The Zambian Association of New England
was formed in The Winter of 2003 to establish
a
network
and support
system
for Zambians
residing in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
Our Vision is to promote awareness of
our culture, heritage
and
nation Zambia through participation in
community and national
activities
and
media events. We also seek to foster
community growth, academic development and economic
empowerment among
Zambians in New
England through use of educational opportunities
and available resources.
The Zambian community
in New England have had numerous events since our inception
3 years
ago. Some of our
highlights include
a welcome reception for Former President
Kenneth Kaunda in April 2003 when he
was
invited to
be The First African
President
in
Residence at Boston University, African
Presidential Archives and Research
center. Zambian Association
also hosted a
reception in honor of Our Current President,
His Excellency Levy Mwanawasa
and First Lady Maureen Mwanawasa in
Septemer 2005 during their first visit to Boston,
